Janice M. Briggs
Ms. Briggs’ indoctrination into the world of college sports began in 1988 as an administrative assistant at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Her combined knowledge of college sports programs and insurance lead to employment with National Sports Underwriters, Inc. (NSU) in 1990 as Director of Program Administration. During her tenure with NSU, she supervised a staff of four employees; managed workflow analysis projects to identify process improvement and system re-engineering scenarios; and performed underwriting functions on various key accounts to ensure compliance with insurance company practices and standards. Ms. Briggs was instrumental in directing improvement efforts, including development and implementation of training programs to support necessary improvements.
From 1994 to 1996, Ms. Briggs worked as an Account Executive for a local agency. Primary responsibilities included servicing existing commercial lines accounts and marketing and administration for new business accounts.
Joining Sports Management Associates, (now known as Summit America Insurance Services) in 1996, Ms. Briggs is responsible for the marketing and administration of sponsored NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA intercollegiate accident medical programs to colleges and universities throughout the United States. In addition, she assists amateur sports, coaches’ organizations and national governing body associations in implementing insurance programs tailored to meet their specific needs. Ms. Briggs currently oversees $15.2 million in premium volume for this book of business.
Ms. Briggs plays an essential role in the future growth of Summit America. She is currently licensed and appointed to transact life, accident, health, property and casualty insurance in all states.
